Day 2: How to set your goals?
Ok, so before we start you should watch this video because I’m talking about it on the channel and you’ll understand better what I’m explaining. I seriously love the mind set of Brendon.com. And that video made me realize some things about the method of setting goals. Dream big and set DUMB goals.
So, OK. Now that we now about S.M.A.R.T. and D.U.M.B. goals we can start to set our goals.
I’m going to show you the method I think it’s the most useful for setting goals when you have no idea what to write.
- Remember something that made you happy: it could be a place you visited, the company of someone, the food you tasted, some activity you practiced. Any experience that gave you joy. Write that memory and think about why you’ve never tried it again. If that experience gave you that much joy, you should definitely try it again and write it down as a goal.
- Look for the people you follow in social media and admire because of their lifestyle: Write the most important names as a list. Then write the things you like of each one. And start to set goals to achieve what you like of them. If you’re always wishing you were them, and have a life like them. Just set that as a goal. If you want that kind of lifestyle then work for it. Be the person that people want to be like.
- Write the things you want to improve of yourself: Here you’ll write al the things you want to get better, your habits. What you’ll like to try to improve your lifestyle: organization, health, fitness, intelectual things, etc.
- Be a dreamer: Here you’ll write about all the things you wish but you have no idea how to achieve them. You don’t know if you could reach them but still have hope on them. Those dreams you fear, but consider with excitement. Don’t discriminate, write all your craziest dreams. Don’t think small. Dream big.
- Categorize: write again all your goals now by category to see how many you want of every category. And to have a better view of them. Write every goal that comes to your mind when you’re categorizing. I found this list of categories of glidedesing and I think these are the best ones to classify our goals:1. Health and fitness– What do you want to weigh? How do you want to feel? When do you want to complete your first marathon?2. Intellectual life– What or how many books would you like to read this year? What seminars would you like to attend? What skills would you like to attain? What classes would you like to take?3. Emotional life– Where would you like your energy and happiness levels to be? How would you like to feel throughout your day (including the afternoon time when a lot of us normally feel a “slump”)?4. Character– What do you want to stand for? What values do you want have? What level of integrity would you like to operate at?5. Spiritual life– What personal spiritual practices would you like to maintain or begin? How often do you want to pray or meditate? How often do you want to visit church, a meeting, a service, etc.?6. Love relationships– Who do you want to be with? What kind of partner do you want to be? What type of life do you want to live with your partner? Where do you want to vacation? Where do you want to live?7. Social life– What types of friendships would you like to establish? What kind of friend would you like to be? What types of activities would you like to experience or enjoy in your social life?8. Financial life– How much money would you like to make or save? How would you like to see money flow to you?9. Career- What positions would you like to fill? What skills would you like to elarn or attain? What types of projects would you enjoy working on? Where would you like to work or be employed?10. Quality of life- Where would you like to live? What would you like your home or car to look like? Where would you like to travel? How does your daily life look?11. Life vision- What do you see as your grand contribution to yourself, your community, or your planet?
Now, you have all your goals write down on your notebook and tomorrow we’re going to plan how to achieve them. So leave them like this, because tomorrow we’ll restructure them again.
I recommend you to have an entire notebook for your 2017 goals. I decorate 2 notebooks to use them for my goals. So, I’m going to give you some ideas to diy notebooks if you want to decorate your 2017 goals notebook.
DIY: 2017 Goals Notebook.
- Black stains:
- First, I covered with white acrylic paint. Let them dry and painted 2 more coats.
- Then with black paint, draw thick lines and started to blur them on the edges.
- And the same steps on the other cover.
- Let it dry or a few minutes, and that’s all.
2. Grid:
- On a opaline sheet, I started to draw black lines with a thin brush and a ruler. Very carefully, let them dry and clean with a napkin the paint on the ruler every time that I drew a line.
- Then, draw the lines horizontally, cleaning the ruler every time.
- Let them dry for a few minutes.
- On the notebook, paint the border where the paper won’t cover on the both sides.
- Cover both sides with glue and paste the opalines.
- Cut the borders.
- And set it with a set spray.
XO, Aimée.
