Day 5: How to keep you motivated to achieve them?
We all have this time when we feel so depressed about life, with no energy to leave the house, we get in to a rut. It’s OK, I feel you. I’ve been there… like last night. Haha.
I felt so bad last night. My motivation was 400% since 2 weeks ago when I was supposed to upload #GOALSWEEK. But yesterday I wasn’t concentrated, I had like 30% of motivation, I spent like 2 hours watching videos, and procrastinating my work. I just had to finish blog post and publish it. It should have take me like 50 mins. But no, I was feeling strange. With no motivation at all. And that’s bad when you’re trying to motivate other people.
So, after a few hours I decide… NO, this won’t affect my #1 goal that’s to finish #goalsweek for you. So I published the post really late but I did it. I said to myself don’t work for today, clear your mind, sleep early because tomorrow will be a brand new day, a fresh start. Next morning I woke up early, drank my coffee, ate breakfast, watched 2 motivational videos of Brendon.com and my mood changed so crazy. I started to work, sent e-mails for my subscribers, designed some things, and now I’m writing this post.
The thing here is that IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO GET OUT OF THAT BAD FEELING. If you feel like you have zero energy, zero motivation. Don’t stay there. Take a walk, talk to someone, read a book or watch a video or listen to a podcast about motivation. Anything that can cheer you up do it. Say to yourself that you won’t waste anymore time, you’re going to move an start to do things. Go to the movies with a friend, go to a small trip, try something new. So when you come back to your home you’ll feel so energetic and so motivated about life that no one will stop you.
So now, I’m going to give you my advice of what to do to keep you motivated on your goals:
- Track your progress: this is something I said a lot but this actually works. Track your habits, track your goals. If you have control of what you do and review how much you were improving you’re motivation will increase a ton. Also, If you see no progress, then find the problem and fix it. This is so important because this is obviously a personal project and you can fail or you can success with no problem during the journey. But you need to understand that any plan can have its obstacles. Keep the track of your actions to see where you’re having problems and find a different way to make your plan work and achieve your goal.
- Use the reminder on your phone: other thing I said a lot this #goalsweek. Set a bunch of alarms or reminders for those things you think you may forget. This will keep you concentrated and motivated on your daily goals. The moment you hear the alarm, turn it off, leave your cellphone and work.
- Turn off notifications: the #1 distraction in our lives is social media. We all love social media and it’s not bad at all. The bad thing is how many time we spend on them. We can’t resist to the red circle notification, so we click and then spend 1 hour watching videos or photos. One notification can ruin your concentration and motivation because when you’re done with your social media you won’t have the same energy you had. Because you interrupt your inspiration at work. So, yeah, turn off the notifications that you don’t want see anymore and you know they can distract you a lot.
- Motivational decor: you can makeover your room, change your desktop wallpaper, have a nice goals notebook. These little things can change your mood the moment you see them. Print motivational quotes and frame them, or put them as a desktop wallpaper, diy or buy a nice notebook for your goals anything you know that will keep your motivation level high the moment you see it.
- Make an inspiration board: Sometimes you need to see where you want be. Make a collage of pictures about places, people that inspires you, your goals, motivational quotes. That inspiration board will remind you everyday the things you want in your life. I made a inspiration board a while ago. It was of my firsts post on the blog. Mine is focused on the way I want dress, some places, women that inspires me and some motivational quotes.
- Have someone to talk to about your goals journey: Meet with that someone you trust and you now that will support you during this process. Meet monthly with this person specifically for this topic. Share what you were doing, how you felt the past month, how’s your progress. And listen to their opinion and also their progress too. Support each other. It’s so much easier when you have a friend that shares the same goals or just supports you. Try to not do this alone. Find that positive person that you think will be fun to share this adventure with. And meet monthly to talk about each others goals.
With that said, now you need to follow your dreams. Remember why you started, make an action plan, prepare all things you need to start working on your goal, find that person will be your supporter on this journey. Just do it. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll achieve your goal.
Love, A.
